| The hospital bed is the worst place in the hospital for an elderly patient to be. In addition to adverse effects on mental status and muscle strength/conditioning, staying in bed may cause UI due to the inability of the patient to get to the bathroom. |
If possible, keep the patient active and out of bed. |
